A 2-year, full-time education and football development programme for 16-18 year olds. 

Year 1 - BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport
Year 2 - BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport

The National League U19 Alliance, FA Youth Cup and Bostik Youth League

FREE for 16-18 year olds - There will be a subsidised cost for purchasing training kit

4-5 GCSE's Level 9-4 including English or Maths, or both.
You will need to be 16 years old by 31st August, ready to start the programme in early September.

If successful you will be given a conditional offer and then accepted depending on your results in August.


Players will study a variety of nationally-recognised qualifications within sport, coaching and fitness managed by SCL.

Where required students will study Maths and English GCSE or Functional Skills.

There will be a subsidised cost for purchasing training kit at the start of the season. Further details about this will be provided upon the player’s acceptance into The Football Academy.

The Hampton and Richmond Borough Football Club Academy offers talented footballers the opportunity to enhance and develop their technical and tactical knowledge through an extensive Football Development Programme.

Under the pupillage of highly experienced and qualified UEFA ‘A’ and ‘B’ Licensed Coaches, training will focus on individual technical, tactical and physical attributes whilst skills will be honed through a weekly games programme in the Football Conference Youth Alliance League.

Ian Dyer is the Academy Manager and First Team Assistant Manager at Hampton & Richmond Borough Football Club.

Ian is a UEFA ‘A’ Licensed and FA Youth Licensed coach with over 15 years experience working across all levels of the professional game.

Ian has coached in the youth academies of Fulham, Barnet and Portsmouth, and spent 3 years working with elite players in the USA.

He was also the National Head of Coaching for the Coerver Coaching programme in the UK. During his time with Coerver, Ian has observed and worked with some of the top clubs in Europe including Real Madrid, AC Milan, Ajax, Dinamo Zagreb and Chelsea.

As a player Ian enjoyed spells with Hereford United, Aldershot Town and Gosport Borough, and represented Hampshire and South England at U18 and U21 level.

Ian has vast experience working across all areas of youth development, and has worked with many professional players currently playing in the Football League.

Ex-academy student Charlie Ten-Grotenhuis is doing well-Charlie played and studied for two years at Hampton and Richmond Borough FC. During that time Charlie made several appearances for the Hampton and Richmond Borough FC First Team. He has since signed as a professional with Bristol Rovers FC.

Former HRBFC Academy player Rylan Myers is now a regular in the starting line-up of Met Police in the Ryman Premier League.

In November 2017, HRBFC Academy player Dylan Randall became the youngest ever player to make an appearance for the HRBFC First Team. Dylan was aged 16 years 309 days at the time of his debut. Dylan signed a First Team contract after his impressive scoring run for the U18s, he has also attracted interest from several professional clubs.

ENOCH SOGANILE (right in photo above)
In November 2017, HRBFC Academy U18 player Enoch Sognaile signed a contract with the HRBFC First Team after some impressive performances. Enoch also gained some valuable experience by playing on loan for Harrow Borough of the Ryman Premier League during the 2017/18 season.
