The recent budget has pledged that funding for the Primary PE and Sport Premium is to be doubled for primary schools to £320m per year from September 2017. This gives your school the opportunity to make a significant difference to the health and wellbeing of your pupils until 2020.
Designed to improve the quality and range of school sport delivery, the Primary PE and Sport Premium is to be given direct to schools to provide solutions such as specialist coaching, teacher training and dedicated sports programmes, giving schools both the confidence and resources to plan for their sporting future and implement solutions that can really make a difference.
This investment will not only help develop your pupils physical literacy, competence and confidence with PE lessons, but also enable additional sporting activities to be offered outside of the school day . These additional activities will provide more opportunities for pupil engagement and greater access to physical activity.
This is an exciting time for PE and school sport…and SCL is here to help.

We have used our PE and Sport Premium funding to employ SCL PE specialists to work alongside our teachers to improve the teachers’ knowledge about how to accurately assess children’s learning in PE so that planning matches learning needs. This has had the added benefit of improving staff confidence in teaching PE. We are thrilled with the impact that this has had, on both staff and children. There is now very clear differentiation within PE lessons and everyone loves PE! Liz Mathias, Headteacher - St. Michael’s CofE Infant School, Hampshire
