NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Sport
Individual offers may vary; however, you’ll normally need 4 GCSEs Level 4-9, preferably one being English or maths.
NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport
Individual offers may vary; however, you’ll normally need 5 GCSEs Level 4-9, including English and maths.

This programme is government funded.
You will not need to pay tuition fees but other costs may be applicable.
You will study a nationally recognised qualification in sport, delivered by SCL.
Year 1 - Complete an NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity
Year 2 - Complete an NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity
Where required, you will also study maths and/or English GCSE or Functional Skills.

Whitstable has an established history of developing semi professional footballers from its local community. We aim to create as many educated and talented athletes as we can to push into the Whitstable FC first team and even higher.
There will be a subsidised cost for purchasing training kit at the start of the season. Further information will be given by your Tutor upon acceptance onto the programme.
Successful completion of your study programme will provide you with the option to apply for university. As part of your weekly tutorials, you will receive support and guidance with your UCAS and student finance applications.
If you decide to combine further study with employment, you will be eligible for an apprenticeship within the sport and leisure industry.
Upon successful completion of your study programme, you will receive information, support and guidance on a variety of aspects to support you in securing meaningful employment. This will form the basis of your tutorial sessions, in addition to the academic monitoring and target setting.
Studying with SCL provides you with the opportunity to study and train full-time with Whitstable Town FC Academy while competing in weekly competitive matches in the highest league outside of U19 academy football. There is opportunity to progress into semi-professional and professional football and even play professionally abroad in the following countries, Spain, Portugal, USA, New Zealand etc. We have close connections with the USA Scholarship routes which is a fantastic opportunity to train full-time and attend university at some of the best universities in America. We also offer an optional Year 14 one year programme (3rd Year) in Level 3 Gym Instructing and Personal Training run by Rob Horswell Training.
A member of our SCL Student Services Team will then be in touch to provide more information about the programme and book you onto an education interview, if eligible.
Your telephone interview is your chance to find out more information about the programme and ask any questions that you may have.
An SCL Tutor will be using this time to find out more information about you and collect important information in preparation for your enrolment onto the programme.
Following your telephone interview, if eligible, you will receive a conditional offer to start the programme in September 2020.
We will be in touch with you to arrange your next steps, which will give you the chance to find out more about the sport element of the programme.
This will be either a phone call with the Academy Manager or Coach or a training session, dependent on government restrictions being lifted.
We will review your qualifications and work with the club to confirm your acceptance onto the programme.
You will then be enrolled onto the programme, and we will look forward to seeing you in September!
JOSH ALGAR - HEAD COACH
Josh Algar is a UEFA B Qualified coach with over 8 years coaching experience and 18 years football playing experience. Josh is a current Millwall Football Club scout and the current Whitstable Town Football Club Reserves Team Manager. Josh has a vast background in the football industry and was signed to Professional Club Leyton Orient FC for three seasons. Josh trialled at the following Premier League Clubs when he was younger: Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Reading. This gives him fantastic knowledge to pass onto his players, who are trying to make the big step into professional football.
JOSH WHITE - ASSISTANT HEAD COACH
Josh White is a UEFA B qualified coach with over 8 years coaching experience at various academies across Kent and South East London, while also managing a Kent Youth League U16’s and U18’s side. Josh is also a current semi-professional player in the SCEFL league and is well respected within non-league level of football.
MARTIN SEBBAGE - EDUCATION TUTOR
Martin Sebbage is the academy’s Education tutor who has over 14 years teaching experience. Martin attended the University of Chichester completing a BA (hons) sports studies course as well as holding Level 5 Diploma in Teaching and Further Education.
BAILEY COLLIN - ASSISTANT COACH/STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING COACH
Bailey Is a experienced coach across Kent. Bailey is a fully qualified Personal Trainer and is the academies strength and conditioning coach. His role is about improving players fitness levels, upper body strength and ensuring our players become athletes, that are able to cope with the physical demand of football. Bailey also currently plays for semi professional club Canterbury City.
